Welcome to our website. Troop One is sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church of Hot Springs, AR. Our troop is a quality unit, meaning we camp out every month, year 'round. Our troop is the oldest troop in Arkansas, and has held Court of Honor for 64 Eagle Scouts. We believe that scouting not only  keeps boys out of trouble, but builds character.  Scouting's founder, Lord Baden Powell, said that "Scouting is a game with a purpose". The purpose is to build good citizens with good character, because now, more than ever, character counts. The 'game' is swimming, camping, fishing, sailing, hiking, climbing and other outdoor activities in a program that is meant to build character and discipline. Last year Troop One shifted their focus from being a climbing troop to an aquatics troop. Troop One owns a sailboat and takes advantage of  Ross Rhodes Scout Camp access to Lake Degray's to take the boat out. We take scouts to Merit Badge University twice a year so that the scouts have plenty of opportunity for advancement.

Our scoutmaster, Ken Armstrong is a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. The Silver Beaver Award is the council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. It is given to those who do not actively seek it.
